Are You One of the 43% Running at a Loss?

With a rise in aged care facilities reporting a loss, it’s worthwhile having a closer look at your pain management bill.

Are you experiencing:

  • Overprescription of Item 4b;
  • Validation downgrades due to insufficient treatments and poor holiday back fill;
  • Underfunding across the Activities of Daily Living Domain; and
  • A lack of co-operation and integration between the allied health team and the ACFI teams.

How can Encara help?

  • Contact us to request a quote for the provision of allied health and pain management services.
  • Are you out of contract and open to changing to Encara?
    • Yes? Contact us to book in a free audit and detailed quote for cost comparison.

The lowest rates for pain management are just the beginning. Did you know:

  • Your allied health team must support ADL funding as well as CHC funding. Does your allied health team know how?
  • Your ACFI team must have control of all pain management admissions. Do you have control?
  • Your ACFI team should benefit from simple learning activities to understand how allied health can boost ADL and CHC funding. Does your allied health provider give you this support?
  • Encara’s unique invoice reporting system provides detailed spend data and opportunities for cost savings.

Improving Financial Performance in Aged Care

Finally, 2018/19 sees an increase in the ACFI subsidy!

With recent reports of up to 43% of aged care providers experiencing significant financial stress, this will be welcomed news across the industry. The changes are effective from 1 July 2018.

Although increased subsidy rates are a win, the biggest efficiencies for struggling providers are delivered through achieving the correct ACFI funding for each resident you care for, at the lowest possible cost.

Your allied health team should be actively supporting these outcomes by:

  1. Providing evidence to secure accurate ADL claiming; and
  2. Preventing unnecessary overprescription of the “Rolls Royce” Item 4b pain management program.
Do you need more from your allied health team? Are you spending too much on pain management?

Contact Encara today to learn how we support the correct funding for each resident at the lowest possible cost.

Encara – Supporting Quality and Delivering on Safety in Aged Care

Minister Ken Wyatt has announced a new national independent Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission in response to the Carnell-Paterson review into the Oakden Older Person’s Mental Health Service.   See his media release here

The new Commission will start from 1 January 2019 and will bring together the functions of the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency, the Aged Care Complaints Commissioner and the aged care regulatory functions of the Department of Health.

In addition, a performance rating scale against the quality standards will be developed and made publicly available. The MyAgedCare website will also include a user friendly comparison tool.

Flu Season Ahead – Encara’s Vaccination Procedure

It is believed that there are some 1,500-3,500 influenza-related deaths annually in Australia, with the elderly being particularly at risk.

In addition to the loss of life, annual influenza outbreaks represent a significant healthcare burden and cost to industry and to the individual. A recent study found that annually in Australia, influenza:

  • Causes 18,000 hospitalisations
  • Requires over 300,000 GP consultations
  • Costs the Australian health care system at least $85m.

Annual influenza vaccination continues to be the most important measure to prevent influenza and its complications. While in some cases, influenza vaccination may not prevent a person developing the disease, it can help to reduce the severity and/or duration of the disease and potentially prevent further serious complications.

Encara are committed to providing the safest possible environment for the residents and staff of the clients that we work for, as well as for ourselves and our families.

Each year Encara make free vaccinations available for all staff through our corporate vaccinations program.

We recommend that any staff experiencing the flu or flu like symptoms do not attend work.

Just another reason why Encara is your perfect allied health partner.

Meet Encara at LASA 2017!

Encara is excited to be attending the 2017 LASA Congress on the Gold Coast again this year.

LASA is Australia’s biggest aged service industry event attended by leaders and decision makers across the nation’s age services industry.

Encara is a proud sponsor of this year’s Congress. We are onsite throughout the event in booth 104 of the exhibition hall.

We see LASA as a great opportunity to catch up with our valued clients from across the country and to thank the industry as a whole for the support that Encara has enjoyed over many years.

We have seen a lot of change across the industry in recent years. Beyond networking, we will be attending LASA to stay up to date with the latest developments, trends and opportunities that are emerging across the country in response to Aged Care Funding Instrument (ACFI) changes within residential care and Consumer Directed Care (CDC) within the home care environment.

Encara specialise in the provision of allied health services to the aged and community care sectors. We create successful partnerships with aged and community care providers. We value and deliver:

  • Continuity of therapist;
  • ACFI expertise;
  • The best return on investment from pain management services;
  • Responsive customer services; and
  • A full suite of allied health services.

We hope to see you at LASA 2017 in booth 104!
