Minister Ken Wyatt has announced a new national independent Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission in response to the Carnell-Paterson review into the Oakden Older Person’s Mental Health Service.   See his media release here

The new Commission will start from 1 January 2019 and will bring together the functions of the Australian Aged Care Quality Agency, the Aged Care Complaints Commissioner and the aged care regulatory functions of the Department of Health.

In addition, a performance rating scale against the quality standards will be developed and made publicly available. The MyAgedCare website will also include a user friendly comparison tool.

Encara understand the fast pace of change in the aged care industry must be met with an eye for continuous improvement from providers and their partners.

So how does Encara’s family of therapists support quality and safety across Australia’s aged care homes?

  • We support constant collaboration between therapists and the clinical team;
  • We deliver accurate, detailed and deficit focused musculoskeletal assessments that provide a solid evidence base to develop accurate plans of care;
  • We apply a risk management process when completing transfer and mobility prescription with a focus to prevent falls and manual handling related injuries;
  • We develop and maintain appropriate, goal driven exercise plans for each resident to optimise mobility and dexterity;
  • We develop and maintain customised, holistic, engaging and efficacious pain management plans;
  • We support residents to engage actively and meaningfully in leisure, exercise and their activities of daily living; and
  • We deliver training through Encara’s Online Learning Management System that is complimented by our detailed on site manual handling competency based training sessions.

These are just some of the big ticket items and outcomes we achieve. To learn more of our unique activities, systems and tools, call 1300 761 965, or complete the form below to book a meeting today.
